Good morning everyone!!
Long time without posting... I know.
Last week I went to Miami, Florida, because I had some interviews for my Internship on my OPT year! It was pretty good so I hope finding something interesting. But let's talk about that in another future blog!
Now we must follow with my awesome International Internship experience at MarCom.
Comparing with Miami the weather it's colder than ever, so I take my daily coffee and meal on my way to the Office.
When I arrive I had an email from Down, saying welcome and giving my new tasks for today.
The first I had to do was going to the “Old Iona Photos” gallery on SmugMug.

Then, review the photos and download and color correct the photos.
All that with Photoshop, so in journalism is pretty important to know how to use the Photoshop, here in my intern is the second time I had to perform the photos.

I had to correct the Old Iona Photos using Auto Tone and Auto Contrast.
Then replace them in the Smug Mug album with the corrected versions.
After that, as the other day, I had to add keywords to all the photos in this gallery. Today it was longer than ever! I add around 100 tags!

Take a look of my notes...
When I finished with Iona Old Photos task. Down sent me an email from HARO [haro@helpareporter.com]. I've heard about that but I've never used it before.
It's like a webpage that help you to practicing targeted
media relations to get the most exposure and quantifiable
success for your brand. For example, when to insert your brand into breaking news stories,
and what pitches annoy journalists, bloggers and influencers. It's a way to discover how to target, develop, and write customized pitches. success for your brand. For example, when to insert your brand into breaking news stories,
So you have to register and then you receive twice emails per day about journalists that are seeking for information and sources. Dawn explained to me that our task here is to offer our departments, professors or whatever social group at Iona that can provide information to those reporters who want to focus on an issue or to find a reliable source. So, if we find any good proposal, we have to send HARO responses that work to help them.
Today we found two, one for IT and the other about how to celebrate Saint Patricks Day. So my task here is to forward this to Dawn, and if she is agree with me, we will send the response to HARO.
Also, Down give me two more ads with the advisors of what I should do or change.

So, what I had to do was changing the font of the headline, moving the image to the bottom, changing the text from the photo and moving it out, etc.

So I edit them on InDesign and then I sent to her trough The Cloud (the folder that can connect we all)
The next task was pretty different from the others. As I told you about the importance for being a good journalist of using Photoshop, I told you now the same with InDesign.
Suzanne sent me an email asking me to correct an Iona Ads sending the indications through email of what I had to change, edit or fix.

Today was a really busy day! But also I used several programs such as InDesign, Smug Mug, and Photoshop. And also I learned more about websites and how media and freelance journalists work with HARO.
See you tomorrow :)
