Hello!

Today I had a surprising task.
Suzanne forward me an email from the international relations of Iona College, Jeff Turner.
He was the first person who I first meet in Spain before coming here.
I talked with him about all this International program and finally, here am I!

So my surprise was that he's doing one Ad to create another program with one city for Milan, so I was the person in charge of following his indications and changing the language or the mistakes of dates or names using inDesign. And changing the old logo with the new logo of the Italian University.

And then exporting it as a PDF.

And saving it in the Creative Cloud Files Folder, that which we can use to connect between all MarCom.

Next, my favorite task (lol) Old Iona Magazines! Today I scan 3.

And then saving into the folder of each magazine in the USB.

My third task was helping Suzzane with one Ad. Do you remember the last Ad about the New York Networking Night event.

Opening it with Acrobat, and see the comments.

And then opening it with the InDesign and changing it.
Finally, as all the InDesign projects, exporting it as a PDF.

And sending Suzanne by email.

Everyday I have more domain of InDesign!

See you tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!

My day of my internship today was really hectic. So I'm going to keep on it.

First thing I did was finishing tagging the pictures I didn't finish yesterday in SmugMug.

Tagging "Student Life" and the locations of each picture.

It take me long time because were 1.918 pictures to tag.

The second task of today was to perform the Old Iona Magazines, because were in a bad quality.

But it would require a lot of time, so the easy and quickly way was to scan them another time, but changing the resolution before scanning to 600 dpi.

My third and last task had been going to an event here in the college.

Phi Sigma Sigma sorority organize an event in the first floor of La Penta building at Iona College, in order to help the social service community Hope Soup Kitchen, located in same New Rochelle.

The event started at 1.00 p.m. until 4.00 p.m., and it consist on a collaboration of the whole community to bring cereal boxes for the association. The sisters expect getting 300 boxes

As well as paying $1 for getting some desserts the sisters offered. And, also, with this dollar you can write a message in the banner they are going to give to Hope Soup Kitchen in order to give support to them.

Phi Sigma Sigma, a local and national sorority, have 95 sisters at Iona College. Those girls believe plenty in their ideals that are sisterhood, service and scholarship and diversity.

"it is because of our dedication to the sorority events like that and to their ideals that Phi Sigma Sigma is growing locally as well as nationally" said one of the sisters.

I had to take some pictures and sent it to Bianca, so she could post it on the Website.

Hard work today, right?

Next week more :) Have a nice weekend.

Good morning readers!

After my first Spring Break here in the US, I'm full of energy to continue with my internship.

Today? NO MORE IONA OLD MAGAZINES!

Today InDesign and SmugMug (long time since I worked with SmugMug page, right?)

Suzzane sent me an email to help her to edit an Iona ad about an event called "New York Networking Night."

I had to do some changes to refresh the new ad, changing some details such as dates and locations from the ad of last year.
She sent me an email with the PDF with all the comments for the changes I should do.

Then, I went comment by comment changing it in the In-Design project.

Finally, Export the project into a PDF.

Ready to be sent!

My second task was, as I said before, working with SmugMug in "Fuse Spring'13 Shoot" album.

The photos in this album had some tags but not location, sports, people, etc.

So what I had to do was adding those that were missing.

 Nice coming back!

See you tomorrow :)

Happy warm Wednesday!

It seems that the good, sunny and warm weather is coming soon...

What about today?
IONA OLD MAGAZINES!

We didn't finish this process yet, it proves that Iona College has a long and storied history!

Today I had to scan 5 more magazines:

1. "Greatest Generation" from the summer of 2002.

2. "Creativity spirit movement" from fall 2002.

3. "Br. Liguori Challenges Graduates on 10 Social Issues Facing Our World" from fall 2001.

4. "Iona Alumni in the Sciences" from spring of 2001.

5. "A defining moment in Iona's history" from spring of 1998.

6. "Homecoming 199" from fall 1999.

Additionally, just as I did yesterday, I continued to scan page by page saving it to the USB.

Creating the folders, and putting the page number of each scan.

Before finishing, I had to make my second coffee... I was so exhausted! But you know what? We already finished with the Iona old magazines !! (I'm not going to say that very loud because maybe tomorrow there will be more Iona old magazines :) )

Next week is Spring Break, also it's my first Spring Break here!

See you in two weeks guys.

03.10.2015

Hello everybody!!

Today Is one of my favorite days in the College because one of my best friends from Spain came to visit me! Her name is Eli and she's an undergraduate student majoring in audio visuals. She was really proud of me for participating in this amazing intern program.

When I arrived at the office, we had to work really hard today. We are preparing the events of old Iona students, so we need to have all the all magazines scanned and ready.

Today I had 4 magazines:

1.  "Iona on the Rise" of winter/spring 2004
2. "Assignment: Mars. Iona students survey the red planet" of summer/fall 2004
3. "Vision accomplished" of winter/spring 2005
4. "Commencement 2005 at the garden" of summer/fall 2005

I started with "Iona on the Rise." Today, in order to scan the magazine, we changed the receiver. We are not going to send that to Dawn, Instead, we are going to save that on a USB.

So we changed the settings and we put everything on the USB, so the machine can detected the USB externally.

One by one, I scanned the pages. Because if we do all the pages at the same time, then it is harder to know from which magazine each page originates.

So after scanning the first one, I went to the computer to create a new folder with the year of the magazine.

In this case: IONA COLLEGE WINTER SPRING 2014.

After that, I put the bottom number on each page.

And so on for the other three magazines.

I think that we are almost finished with all the old Iona magazines :)

See you tomorrow!!

03.04.2015

Good morning everyone!

Walking to my intern this morning, I received an email from my Public Relation's Professor, Orly Shachar. She's my Internship Tutor, and she wanted to meet with me to talk about how the internship was going.

The issue is that both of our schedules are too busy, so she already had contacted Dawn in order to meet with me during my Intern.

When I arrived the first thing I did was trying to finish the list of Iona College Social Media sited. Bianca gave me the USB with the Social Media sites she already had, so I had to compare all the accounts I had to see which ones were missing on the list, and if I repeated any of them.

Long work... and I still haven't finished yet! But I'll never give up!

In the middle of my internship today, I went to the Murphy Center to meet with Orly Shachar. We talked about my resume, how to fix it on only one page, how to put it in order, delete the issues that are not relevant, and leave the ones that are most important for finding a job. Which kind of company should I apply to, which are my strong skills, and so on.

She's an awesome professional, and she's really nice with me. All what she told me was really helpful for me.

Then, when I came back to the office, I started to scan the three magazines I missed yesterday.

So when I finished that, my Internship finished also for the day! It's 3 p.m.... I have class in 30 minutes.

See you next week :) !! Have a great weekend.
