04.28.2015 - MY LAST DAY OF INTERNSHIP

HELLO EVERYBODY!!

Today is my last day of my international internship! I'm so excited but, at the same time, is sad for me. Because it was my first experience working in my major in The United States.

Suzzane asked me to do one last task, helping her to edit with Photoshop some old Iona photos from the folder.

Performing them:

Adding Auto Tone.

Auto Contrast.

And Auto Color.

And puting the year of every picture. If there's any that it's difficult to see because of the white background,

I add a later style to the text.

The most common is Drop Shadow.

And saving it with maximum quality,

 As a JPEG.

I want to say thanks to Todd Wilson, the senior director of College Marketing & Communications, for always being friendly with me talking me in Spanish and inviting me to all the events the Department had.

Suzanne Flood, the content specialist and Bianca De León, the digital and social media manager, today weren't in the office, so I couldn't say bye to them. But I also want to appreciate all what they both teach me during my internship.

Suzanne Augustyn, the director of Creative Service, today was her 8th anniversary with her husband and she received a beautiful bouquet of yellow roses. She was so excited with that sweet and lovely gift. She really deserves it for being so cute and nice with everybody.

Finally, I really want to say thanks to Dawn Insanalli, the director of Media Relations, for her daily time and dedication she spend helping me with my tasks, and also with other issues.  I had too much questions about what I would do after my graduation or what would happen to me when I finish my BA. And she helped me a lot talking about working in NYC, how is live out of campus, best places to look for a job, etc. She's a really good professional, and one of the nicest persons I meet at Iona College. I really appreciate that, I wish you all the best.

It's is a wonderfull and professional Department, I really invite all the mass communication students to do their internship at MarCom.

Thank you International Department for the oportunity, thank you Iona College, and thank you MarCom. My international Internship has been one of my best experiences ever.

And also, thank you all you, my loyal readers, to being in touch with me during this experience.

Sincerely,

AAGG :)

04. 22. 2015

Good morning everyone!
I have a bad new... I counted all the hours I've been working and there is more than 90! So I could left right now, but I prefer to learn more today and make the next day, my last day of my international intern.

Today was a really funny day. But I'm going to start with my first task: yearbooks.
There's a place downstairs commonly called: archives.

It's colder than the officer but there's all the stuff and material which MarCom works.

First corner to the right, there's all the stuff we use more: videos, photos, portraits, yearbooks...

So in one of the closets, there are the yearbooks of old Iona generations.

So Bianca asked me to take three: the yearbooks from 1993, 1994 and 1995.

So I found them, pick and bring them upstairs to the warm office!

\

I had to find a students group, but the fact is unfortunately it wasn't in any of those three yearbooks.

One funny picture was from 1993, with the Communication Arts' professors, where I recognize my tutor from my internship, Prof. Orly Shachar!

\
Then, Suzzane asked me if I wanted to being filmed for the Move the World Website and the View Book. Is something that the Admissions Department used to share with the potential students.

So, as a famous girl, they were preparing me putting make up and doing my hair

We were two professors, Br. Jason Ford from Admissions, and four students.

They were filming and taking pictures of us around the campus.

It was a funny and great experience!

Have a good weekend, see you next TUESDAY. My last day of internship.

04.15.2015

Hello everybody!

My international Intern is arriving to the end... I'm almost finished.

My task for today was helping Bianca with the Social Media Information Sheets.

I printed out all the ones that we already fulfill (as you can see, there are a lot of Social Media accounts at Iona)

Then, organizing it in the folder with the ones that Bianca had before I help her.

What I did was replacing the old ones with the new ones.

And also adding the new Information accounts that were missing.

See you next week :)

04.14.2015

Good morning!!

Today my central task has been scanning more IONA OLD MAGAZINES!

Today I had 6 more magazines.

Scanning each one, saving it in the USB.

And then adding the name of each page in the computer.

Then, Down told me to go to the Iona Scholars Day to cover it doing pictures.

The event was is John A. Mulcahy Gymnasium.

Each student show their research projects for next year. Iona Scholars Day offers us an opportunity to acknowledge the research and scholarship our students and faculty. In this, there is a profound sense of community, which encourages academic inquiry, cultivates dedication, inspires new ideas, and pushed the bounds of innovative thinking.

There also were some sandwiches and drinks for all the participants.

When I arrive to the office, what I had to do was connecting the camera to the computer, with the cable adapted to Canon displays. For that I should put the camera on.

And then, saving the pictures in the Scholars' Day folder.

See you tomorrow :)

04.09.2015

Good morning everyone!

Long time since I post. That have an explanation: EASTER.

Last Sunday was Easter so on Monday there was no internship. After the reschedule with my hours and Michelle's hours, my day of internship this week isn't Tuesday or Wednesday, it's Thursday!

My first task of today was helping Bianca with the social media accounts.

Fulfill each sheet with each account of Iona from the paper I completed weeks ago.

And keeping each sheet in the USB folder.

My second task started with Suzzane's email. It ask me to fix the new Senior Toast Ad of this year.

Utilizing InDesign.

And saving it as a PDF, ready to be sent back to Suzanne.

An finally, helping Dawn with my favorite task: OLD IONA MAGAZINES.

Scanning and saving them in the USB.

See you next week :)
